News 2026-06-13 50 Years Since Géza Anda Left Us

On 13 June 1976, Géza Anda died prematurely of a serious illness. One year later, his widow Hortense created a foundation in his memory, which is dedicated to the support of young pianists and has carried out the renowned Concours Géza Anda since 1979.

A special tribute by our board member and Anda specialist, musicologist Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rathert, can be heard on German National Radio Deutschlandfunk Kultur on Friday, 12 June, 22:30 CET.

On 13 October, we present a “Hommage à Géza Anda”, a gala concert with piano concertos for two, three and four pianos by J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart at Tonhalle Zürich. The soloists are Zlata Chochieva and David Fray (artistic direction and piano), as well as our laureates Anton Gerzenberg, Wataru Hisasue and Dmitry Yudin (piano), accompanied by our partner orchestra, the Musikkollegium Winterthur.
